Jazz Mafia Trio has often been described as one of the most versatile bands on the West Coast having backed up many well-known artists in a wide array of styles. With 3 members playing, sampling, looping and triggering over 20 instruments, sounds of electro/jazz, intricate original songs and arrangements, hundreds of classic hip-hop breaks and hour long completely improvised compositions, the band has carved a nitch for itself in the San Francisco music scene.
Jazz Mafia Trio has been an integral part to the Jazz scene as well as Hip-Hop in SF. For the past 2 years the trio has been hosting freestyle jam sessions around SF at places like Royale in North Beach (1st and 3rd Wednesdays) and Bruno’s in the Mission, and has performed with hundreds of the most talented vocalists around. Jazz Mafia Trio has also performed for Jazz Festivals and clubs as well as booty shakin’ dance parties, the full musical experience.
On their Bruno’s Second Tuesday residency, JM Trio has begun a successful collaboration with live visual artists including live painting by Rachel Hornaday, Suzie ferras and Nicole Schack. Future joints include live video and projection, all performed live on stage with the band.
