(San Francisco, CA, October 1, 2008) - The Conservation Value Institute and The Meadowlands Entertainment Group today announced the line-up for the Inaugural Band Shell Music Summit on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19. The Saturday event is free for all ages and will take place at the Music Concourse Band Shell, 50 Tea Garden Drive and Concourse Drive in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from 11:00AM to 7:00PM. Gates will open at 10:30AM. Event will feature an exclusive performance by Golden Globe, Emmy and Grammy-Award nominee Mos Def with the Realistic Orchestra. Music performers will also include Dmitri Matheny Quartet, Mingus Amungus with The Arab Summit, Zion I, Bayonics, Josh Jones Latin Ensemble, featuring Jesus Diaz and John Santos plus DJ’s Bumper, Tony O and James Ross along with MC’s Sterling James and Luis Medina.
The Band Shell Music Summit will feature food & wine concessions from some of the Bay Areas finest establishments along with exhibits from local & national environmental organizations and presentations on the California Academy of Science, the De Young Museum, Conservation Value Institute.
BLUE BEAR SCHOOL OF MUSIC BENEFIT, RUBY SKYE, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19
On Sunday, October 19, The Blue Bear School of Music will hold A Youth Music Education Benefit featuring Mos Def with the Realistic Orchestra at Ruby Skye, 420 Mason Street in San Francisco. Doors will open at 7:00PM and shows starts at 8:00PM. Proceeds will fund Blue Bear’s exciting youth music education and community outreach programs including the Studio 101 Program that provides underserved youth the opportunity to participate in and learn skills in music production, songwriting, and computer based music technology by creating their own original music. A non-profit founded in 1971, Blue Bear is San Francisco’s leading destination for aspiring musicians of all ages and all skill levels who want to enjoy learning and playing Rock, Popular, Folk, Blues or Jazz music. Blue Bear’s mission is to provide superior quality and affordable popular music education through the school’s experienced professional faculty and diverse programming, Blue Bear provides a comprehensive music education meeting the needs of students from 6 months old to those well into their seventies and beyond. CHRIS TALLMAN WALK FOR MUSIC AND YOUTH, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18
The Chris Tallman Walk for Music and Youth on Saturday, October 18, 2008 is a 5 Mile Walk to raise money for the Chris Tallman/Matthew Chase Memorial Fund at the Blue Bear School of Music. Chris, an accomplished singer songwriter, was tragically killed in April, 2008. A Memorial Fund established in Chris’ honor provides funding for music programs serving underserved youth. The Bank of America Foundation will provide matching funds for donations raised by Associates. The Walk for Music and Youth will begin at Lindley Meadow in Golden Gate Park at JFK Drive & 30th Avenue and finish at the Band Shell Music Summit. Supporters unable to participate are encouraged to contribute directly to the Chris Tallman/Matthew Chase Memorial Fund.
