On Tuesday, June 5th Realistic Orchestra presented it’s 2nd Annual Prince Birthday Tribute at Bruno’s as part of Jazz Mafia Tuesdays. This year we stepped up the game by adding lots more songs and more guest vocalists including: Joe Bagale, Chris McGee and Emily Schmidt. We were lucky to have DJ Daymitreeus in the house who brough crates of rare Prince and related records and spun all night as well as busting some sick Prince-themed freestyles with the band.
We had a capacity turnout and broke the Tuesdays attendance record yet again. I was surprised how people seemed to know even the more obscure tunes that we played like "777-9311" and some of the newer stuff off "Rainbow Children". It was fun hearing the reaction from a few people who were walking by when they wandered in the club and saw a 20- piece band with 4 vocalists playing a full blown tribute to the music of the Purlple One! It was super fun – We’re currently planning our next tribute – will keep ya posted.
