Following 3 more full days of the horn section of Adam Theis, Joe Cohen and Rich Armstrong at T.E.D, the tour bus embarked on a 2 week long tour of the California and South West leading to SXSW Music Conference in Austin TX for 3 days. That is where things got crazy with a memorable party with the horns and J-Boogie at the Giant Step showcase. While in Austin our pal and soundguy Clif brought in an old DA-88 (digital recording device form 15 years ago) and said he was going to try to roll “tape”. The tapes look like little 8 tracks if I remember right. Anyway, that was the last thing we heard about it until a few weeks later when Thoms said the show sounded great and it is going to be released as a live album! It was one of the best shows of the tour and from the bits we’ve heard the magic was captured. “Thomas Dolby and the Jazz Mafia Horns Live at SXSW” is out now and is available through iTunes, cdbaby checkĀ Thomas’ website for more info.
